Cherries have played a big role in my adult life. For many years we lived in a house surrounded my cherry orchards. The first Tuesday in November marked the beginning of cherry season, and generally by the turn of the new year the cherries and all been picked and sent to market.

It was my daugters 14th birhday last week. The birthday cake had 14 cherries just like these :). It is really such a simple but beautiful and tasty fruit.

Memories of Christmases past do tug on the heart strings. Salted mixed nuts remind me of my Dad at Christmas, but cherries will always make me think of Christmas with my own kids.
